Diabetes/endocrinology is the highest-ranked specialty at Norton Children’s, coming in at 14th nationally.

“We are excited and honored to once again be recognized as one of the nation’s leading children’s hospitals for endocrinology and diabetes care,” said Kupper A. Wintergerst, M.D., pediatric endocrinologist, executive director of Wendy Novak Diabetes Institute, and Wendy L. Novak Chair of Pediatric Diabetes Care and Clinical Research. “It is a testament to the dedication of our world-class healthcare team that provides the highest level quality of care to our children and their families.”

In addition to diabetes/endocrinology, the Best Children’s Hospitals list includes national rankings for six other Norton Children’s specialties: behavioral health, cancer, neurology/neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology and urology.

U.S. News collected and analyzed data from 108 children’s hospitals and surveyed thousands of pediatric specialists. Children’s hospitals awarded designations excelled at factors such as clinical outcomes, level and quality of hospital resources directly related to patient care, and expert opinion among pediatric specialists.

The goal of these rankings is to assist parents and caregivers, along with their physicians, in navigating the challenges of choosing the best possible care for children with serious illnesses or complex medical needs.
